(I would love to) come see (y)our latest creation.

Ok, so, there will be a special event to be held in San Francisco on January 27, 2010.

People seem to interpret this invitation as a blatant hint at new hardware. I don’t think it’s the case. This is vague enough to announce a new web site, services, hardware, simple updates on the product line, or… anything imaginable (or not) from Apple. It will become meaningful once the event is finished.

People also expect the much awaited Mac tablet to be released or at least announced this day. Why not?

But I would be perfectly content if only ONE thing was announced :

A new iPhone, finally abandoning the ugly and cheap plastic back of the 3G and 3GS versions. The first version was gorgeous and classy, with the mate metallic back that aged so well. The plastic is a shame and I can’t stand how crappy it looks and feels.

iPhone Edge (first generation) back

Or it could go shiny, why not, like the iPod Touch. Either would suit me and finally be worthy of the fine machine it is. Even the shiny metal, scratched and polished by usage, looks cool, unlike the plastic that even “sucks” colors from clothes and such. A shame, really, the plastic back on such a beauty.

iPod Touch gorgeous cae would be perfect for a -finally- classy iPhone

I just hope reasonably and, frankly, Steve should listen to me. As always.

Anyway, how come a long-time follower and connoisseur of everything Apple like me is still not invited to these? And also, hired. Because, let’s face it, this company would be even better with me working there…
